I’m ready for my zombie close-up

Two interesting pieces of news. First, there’s an unnamed zombie game inbound on PSN. Let’s hope it’s a dedicated version of COD Nazi Zombies, but updated with additional maps and objectives. Secondly, we in SF have a chance to be in the trailer for the game, on the 15th and 16th. Although unpaid, lunch will be provided and bragging rights… priceless. Gentlemen, get your SAG cards ready.
Fondling Plants vs. Zombies
I am currently loving this game for iPhone! Actually, my first castle-defense type game which has made me wonder what other titles I may have missed that might be awesome. On a side note, I did have a chance last night to fondle an iPad over at my local mall. I must say that it was heavier than expected, but the build quality was excellent. Load times were much quicker than my 3G iPhone – and I even tried out Plants vs. Zombies HD which was beautiful on that big screen. I didn’t have a chance to build up to a graphics crunching level as a very excited family stopped by to look. I handed it over promptly so they could experience some tech they would most likely not afford. Would I get one? No. Is it cool? Yes.
COD Zombies Touch Review
This news isn’t fresh, I realize, but I stumbled across this review that seems to give a pretty legitimate demonstration of the game. Maybe Troy and I will be the only ones interested, but I present it anyway. As you can see, the game is rendered surprisingly well for a handheld device with so much less power. Movement seems doable with the virtual stick. The same unlocks are available. The game is basically a perfect port, sacrificing some detail in the graphics and a bit of the ease of controlling the game.
The review is obviously older, too, because the second map has since come out and is a full $9.99 extra, if I’m not mistaken. Although, I feel like for those with the extra money, that it’s not a bad value, the concept of paying a full $40 for all 4 maps that are bound to come out eventually seems extremely steep for a portable game. Perhaps the consecutive maps will get a price reduction to like $4.99. Hopefully Activision wants to stay in good stead with gamers, with their upcoming November release of the next COD.

COD7
So, this guy on Mixi who I met and gamed with, he’s a total COD/Nazi Zombie aficionado. He posts something about playing NZ almost ever other day. He’s a nut, but he knows his stuff. He recently posted about the upcoming COD7, which is presumably made by Treyarch, the makers of COD5 aka World At War. Here are his points:
* The title will be Call of Duty 7: Black Ops
* Goes on sale November 2010 (dunno if this is in Japan, in America, or everywhere)
* The stage is the cold war, the Vietnam war, Cuba, South Africa
* There is a mission in 1980 Iran at an embassy, where you play as the English SAS. There are neighboring battles.
* The popular zombie mode from World At War is back
* The dedicated servers for the PC version (recently made extinct in MW2) are coming back
So, if this information is accurate, it seems that Treyarch is going to develop this game, and that they are listening to the fans. Also, here’s a pretty fair review of World At War to refresh your memories. I think they make an important point about the grittiness of the cut scene footage that draws you in and sensitizes you to the conflict.
