New edition of BC2 out, including all the DLC, the VIP content, Onslaught mode, and a complimentary copy of Battlefield 1943, which despite it’s few maps, is a fun game to play.

Sorry, no easy access embedding, but it’s a 103 second series of clips from games of yore up to today.

There’s an article on Kotaku about the infamous headshot in video games, how it first surfaced, and why people like them so much.

This game is arriving on Tuesday, August 24th, for PS3. The premise of the game is “old-school side-scrolling beat ‘em up”, but the hand-drawn, cartoon style is relatively new. I can’t say if I’ll rush to download it, but it would put some variety on tap. Here’s some additional information that discusses the long, bloody, chain-attacks that you can perform:

I will get Resistance 3 without question.
My first exposure to the PS3 and to next-gen gaming was Resistance: Fall of Man (the first game in the series). I played it in split-screen at Noah’s house and had a blast. That experience alone probably convinced me to buy a PS3. I knew when I got an HD television, that playing Resistance would be a great way to put it to use.
Soon, Resistance 2 came out. The game featured even more incredible graphics and sounds, an intense 10-12 hour campaign, and up to 400 hours of online co-op gaming. It also offers the same gaming in split-screen, which is an increasingly rare option. Even more rare is the ability to log in two different PSN account IDs on the same machine, so that each account logs and retains progress made during a local session. Further, you can play 2 players in split-screen mode locally, while playing online with remote players. Amazingly forward-thinking on Insomniac’s part.
Game-wise, it is always fun to fight aliens and I really like the anachronistic mix of mid-20th century environments and futuristic alien technology. This trailer echoes that creative direction, mixing cultural iconography from the early 20th century and injecting some of the Chimeran threat into the mix.
Soon it will be time to defend humanity once again. Steel yourself and pick up a weapon, ladies and gentlemen.
I may be alone in this, but I am looking forward to the next Ratchet & Clank. If you’ve never tried one of the games in this series, you’ve missed out on some of the best graphics on the PS3. Basically, this is as close as you can get to playing a Pixar movie, in this generation of consoles. This one will feature multiplayer and looks like fun.

Stephen Totilo, over at Kotaku wrote about his imprerssions of COD: Black Ops, calling the visuals “terrific” and the game reminiscent of COD: World At War’s “emotionally dark” story.
Also, he wrote this:
“…the new game’s campaign is single-player only. (Co-op is a separate mode, supporting two players on the same system or four players online.) This is not the standard way a solo campaign in a Call of Duty is described, but it seems fitting in a game about Black Ops.”

Just as COD is starting to feel a little redundant to me, Killzone 3 is coming out and looking like a viable alternative in the 1st person shooter category. I have Killzone 2 and it’s quite good, even, amazing if you’re a fan of dystopic, futuristic war stories. The graphics are top notch already, so I’m expecting really, really good things with Killzone 3 – another PS3 exclusive.
